Theme: In partnership with a project by UNESCO, August 23, 2010 marks the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and of its Abolition. The night of 22 to 23 August 1791, in Santo Domingo (today Haiti and the Dominican Republic) saw the beginning of the uprising that would play a crucial role in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is intended to inscribe the tragedy of the slave trade in the memory of all peoples. In accordance with the goals of the intercultural project "The Slave Route", this project should offer an opportunity for collective consideration of the historic causes, the methods and the consequences of this tragedy, and for an analysis of the interactions to which it has given rise between Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. Submissions are sought from mail artists throughout the world.

Theme: This year, our association organize his NINTH INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF MAIL ART on the theme the CLOUD - http://www.raisethecloud.org

The aim of "Larzac, village d'Europe", is to bring together all the people of many nationalities who live on the Plateau du Larzac and to establish contacts with other associations and people in Europe, who wish to take part in cultural exchanges. In general we wish to participate, on our level, in the construction of a united Europe while respecting the diversity of its cultures, a Europe open to all and not inward looking.

Technique/Format: It is our pleasure to invite you to participate by sending mail illustrated in any way you please (drawing, painting, photograph, collage, object, sculpture, etc.), on the support of your choice and in the format that suits you best. You may, if you wish, send several creations. The only requirement is the stamp, cancelled, with the address of the recipient and your return address within the illustrated portion.

Exhibition: We invite you to come and discover the works we receive from you, which will be presented from July 30 to August 5 on the village square, in Le Caylar. The exhibition will then travel to several villages and cities of our region. The works contributed will not be subject to any commercial exploitation, and will not be involved in any contest.

Documentation: We will subsequently prepare and send a souvenir document listing the name and addresses of all participants.

Exhibition: July 24th and 25th, 2010. All work will be shown, as well as permanently archived by Fluxus St. Louis for further exhibition . Throughout the exhibition, Keith A. Buchholz will give Informal talks on Fluxus and Mail Art Networks. We are hoping for this event to be our largest yet. Last year, we were visited by Curators from several museums and universities, art admirers from 6 states, and tour buses of interested people from the region. Fluxus St. Louis maintains an outpost for the Mail Art and Fluxus communities, as well as the extended Avant – Garde network and is the only place to see this kind of work in the region.

Últimos dias exposição “Adornos” de Katia Velo

Reza a lenda que Maria Antonieta era louca por joias e nunca usava o mesmo sapato duas vezes.

A Associação Profissional dos Artistas Plásticos do Paraná – APAP/PR , realiza desde o dia 16 de maio a exposição individual "Adornos" de Katia Velo, na Galeria Osmar Chromiec. Neste domingo (13), a artista estará novamente na galeria recebendo os visitantes. A exposição termina no dia 18 de junho.

Katia Velo é artista plástica, colunista cultural e professora de artes e declarou que o universo feminino sempre a fascinou: “Lembro-me do meu primeiro desenho feito através de observação, foi da lição ‘Laço’ da cartilha Caminho Suave e desde aquele primeiro desenho descobri meu encantamento por objetos femininos.” A exposição busca explorar o ambiente exageradamente supérfluo e nouveau de Maria Antonieta.

Ainda sobre a exposição, Katia Velo, destaca: “Nas artes, seja no palco, na TV, no cinema ou em uma tela, podemos ‘brincar’, nos transportar para papéis que os nossos sentimentos e emoções nos levam, sem que para isso sejamos castigadas, diferentemente do que aconteceu com Maria Antonieta cujos excessos acabaram fazendo-a perder, literalmente, a cabeça.”

La Feria de arte Latinoamericano ETNIA abre su plazo de inscripción hasta el 30 de julio en esta sexta edición dedicada a Joaquín Torres García. Referente del arte latinoamericano en Europa, la feria se ha constituido en una cita habitual de todos los expertos e interesados en la materia que, durante el mes de octubre en Bruselas ( Bélgica ), asisten a la presentación de la obra de prometedores artistas emergentes de América Latina.
El Espace Wallonie en Bruselas será el lugar de encuentro que acoja esta nueva edición de ETNIA que, en 2010, tiene prevista la participación de alrededor de cien artistas de origen latinoamericano, residentes tanto en Europa como en América Latina. Una convocatoria que este año además rinde homenaje a Joaquín Torres García, artista uruguayo-catalán fundador del universalismo constructivo, por medio de la muestra de un conjunto de las acuarelas que elaboró durante la época en la que residía en la capital belga.
ETNIA continúa así con la labor desarrollada hasta el momento de difusión del arte latinoamericano mediante la promoción de sus artistas más noveles en pleno corazón europeo. De esta manera, tras el éxito de la última edición, que reunió a más de 5.000 visitantes, ETNIA propone este año una nueva cita a todos los artistas que deseen participar en una de las ferias más destacadas del calendario artístico. Los autores que deseen formar parte de esta nueva convocatoria tendrán que inscribirse en el registro de artistas de ETNIA (con tasa de inscripción) y subir fotografías de sus obras para que un jurado pueda hacer una selección, que se llevará a cabo en el mes de agosto.
