Walton Creel, Desarmando a arma

Quando Walton Creel decidiu que queria fazer arte usando uma arma, ele não tinha certeza de que direção teria que tomar. Mas sabia que não queria usá-la simplesmente como um acento ao trabalho que estava fazendo, mas como o foco. Seu objetivo principal era tomar o poder destrutivo de distância da arma para tranformar a arma em uma ferramenta de criação e usá-la de uma forma diferente da sua finalidade original, simplesmente um armamento.

Si sa che la leggerezza  è una delle qualità che Calvino auspicava fosse tramandata al nuovo secolo e al nuovo millennio, ma è anche una delle direzioni più evidenti dell’arte contemporanea, che riflette su quest’idea di  sospensione, allontanamento dal mondo reale.Vedere dall’alto, con distacco, un caos contemporaneo, sfidando la gravità.  Leggerezza come libertà da ogni ideologia, da ogni verità costituita. Allegria e  spensieratezza, che insieme all’ironia che spesso auspichiamo, mi pare ben adatta alla nostra stanchezza occidentale, alla nostra voglia di dimenticare, di fermarci un attimo a ritrovare noi stessi per capire meglio il mondo che ci circonda.

Inscrições para a *Experiência Hélio Oiticica*.

De 28 de fevereiro a 20 de março, o Itaú Cultural recebe inscrições para a *Experiência Hélio Oiticica*. Promovida pelo Núcleo de Educação Cultural do instituto, a ação é uma oportunidade para que jovens universitários do curso de artes visuais experimentem uma situação de criação e investigação artística.

A *Experiência Helio Oiticica* será ministrada pelas artistas e orientadoras Georgia Kyriakakis e Mila Chiovatto, que irão selecionar até dez portfólios entre todos os inscritos. Os estudantes participarão da ação de formação,que acontece de 30 de março a 16 de maio e que resultará em intervenções na obra *Rhodislândia* , criada pelo artista em 1971, na Universidade de Rhode Island. Rhodislândia estará exposta na mostra *Hélio Oiticica - Museu É o Mundo*, em cartaz no instituto em breve. A participação dos selecionados inclui a criação de uma obra que será exposta junto com esse trabalho de Oiticica, no contexto da exposição.


Esta é uma oportunidade para universitários que estejam estudando artes visuais em qualquer instituição educacional do país e que estejam cursando a partir do quinto semestre. A oficina terá carga horária de 40 horas e os participantes receberão certificado. Para se inscrever, o aluno (ou grupo) deve enviar à instituição um portfólio
(individual ou do coletivo), no tamanho A4, com no mínimo três e no máximo
dez imagens de produções anteriores e/ou vídeo no formato DVD; além de
currículo, comprovante de matrícula do semestre emitido pela universidade e
uma carta de interesse. Os nomes dos selecionados serão divulgados no dia 27 de março de 2010, no

site www.itaucultural. org.br.

O pódio de 2009: Picasso,
Com o mercado de arte convalescido em 2009, os Tops do mundo do leilão totalizam muito menos do que em anos anteriores. Regulares no ranking Top 10 como Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti, Edgar Degas ou Claude Monet  obtiveram receitas anuais inferiores em comparação com 2008.
Enquanto Picasso e Warhol aparecem com freqüência no pódio anual, é a primeira vez que um artista chinês chegou a tais alturas.

1º - PABLO PICASSO recuperou seu lugar em 2009, apesar de perder 54% do seu total de 2008.
2º - ANDY WARHOL mudou de um passo no Top 10, apesar de um total anual abaixo de 55% em 2009 e uma taxa de vendas de 33% para o ano.
3º - QI BAISHI  - Por um momento fugaz Qi Baishi foi promovido ao posto de "mais caro artista moderno chinês", destronando os mais quentes contemporâneos como Yue Minjun, Yifei Chen e Zhang Xiaogang. No entanto, no mesmo dia, o velho mestre chinês, Wu Bin - um especialista em paisagem que trabalhou sob a dinastia Ming - arrebatou o título quando seu afresco de quase seis metros de largura afresco intitulado "Eighteen arhats" alcançando cinco vezes mais do que seu preço estimado.

Encontro Internacional de Performance reúne artistas de todo o mundo

Belo Horizonte vai se transformar na capital mundial da performance. De 11 a 19 de março, a UFMG e o Instituto Hemisférico de Performances Política das Américas realizam o V Encontro Internacional de Performance, cujo tema será Performances e raízes: práticas indígenas contemporâneas e mobilizações comunitárias.
Cerca de 300 artistas, pesquisadores e ativistas de diversos países das Américas participam do evento. Entre eles, nomes como Jesusa Rodriguez, premiada atriz mexicana, e Susana Baca, uma das maiores intérpretes peruanas, Grammy Latino na categoria world music, em 2002, além de grupos bastante conhecidos como Galpão e Giramundo.
Apesar de a palavra "performance" estar comumente vinculada às artes cênicas, o Instituto Hemisférico explora os sentidos possíveis das práticas performáticas, que envolvem o corpo como agente de expressão e construção. "Em vez de focalizar preferencialmente a cultura escrita, optamos pela abordagem da cultura corporificada. No lugar do discursivo, o performático", explica Leda Martins, coordenadora do evento pela UFMG.
Mescla de gêneros
Assim, o encontro vai mesclar gêneros artísticos diversos, como dança, música, artes cênicas, produção de vídeos e artes plásticas. Durante o evento, entre as atividades práticas e teóricas, haverá oficinas, conferências, grupos de trabalho e mesas-redondas. Os temas giram em torno das tradições culturais indígenas, o patrimônio imaterial, a relação entre a arte e o mercado e as formas de inserção dos agentes culturais.
Esta é a segunda vez que o Encontro Internacional de Performance acontece no Brasil. O primeiro foi realizado no Rio de Janeiro, em 2000; o segundo em Monterrey, no México (2001); o terceiro na peruana Lima (2002), e o quarto na cidade de Nova York. Todas as edições tiveram programa intensivo de dez dias, realizado em diferentes locais nas Américas. Além dos seminários e conferências acadêmicas, há espaço para performances ao vivo e oficinas de estratégias ativistas.
O evento conta com coordenação das professoras Leda Martins, da UFMG, e Diana Taylor, da Universidade de Nova York. Já a produção é realizada pela Nó de Rosa, de Belo Horizonte, sob coordenação de Tatiana Rubim, Márcia Ribeiro e Ângela Castanheira.

Programação
Parte da programação do evento será restrita às pessoas que se inscreverem mediante pagamento de taxa. Para o Brasil, foram abertas 100 vagas, e 200 estão reservadas a outros países. As atividades práticas irão abordar a produção e circulação das noções de identidade, tradições, autenticidade, direitos, acesso cultural e propriedade na era da globalização. Todas as performances noturnas contam com entrada franca. A retirada de senhas para os espetáculos, nas bilheterias dos teatros, será realizada a partir do dia 10 de março.

O V Encontro Internacional de Performance contará com uma série de apresentações gratuitas, abertas ao público. Confira algumas:



11 de março - Campus da Reitoria da UFMG: para dar boas-vindas aos participantes, os povos indígenas Kaiapó, Maxacali e de outras tribos envolverão todos os presentes com suas performances (15h); haverá abertura da exposição Fragmentos de uma Nação: o Povo Maxacali e da instalação Megalíticos, sob a curadoria de Fabrício Fernandino (19h); e a performance dança do povo Mebengokrê, ao ar livre (19h30).



12 de março – A partir das 17 horas, haverá abertura de exposições de fotografias, aquarelas, estandartes e outros, em diversos locais da cidade. Às 21h, o Quarteto Pamyua, do Alasca,apresenta-se, no Teatro Francisco Nunes. O grupo mescla Jazz, funk e outros ritmos mundiais para criar um estilo nativo novo e único.



13 de março –Zeca Ligièro apresenta Desabrigo, no Teatro da Cidade (19h15). Às 21 horas, no Teatro Francisco Nunes, Larry Yazzie, dos Estados Unidos, apresenta Fancy Dancing; David Pleasant, dos Estados Unidos, apresenta The Language of the Soul; Rulan Tangen, dos Estados Unidos, apresenta Dancing Earth, com a participação musical de Quetzal Guerrero. Logo após, haverá debate com Raquel Chapa, dos EUA.



14 de março –Companhia de dança do Palácio das Artes apresenta Coreografia de Cordel, no Grande Teatro do Palácio das Artes, às 18h15. No Teatro Francisco Nunes, às 21h, apresentação do FOMMA (Fortaleza de la Mujer Maya), do México, com Soledad y Esperanza. Às 22 horas, Coatlicue Theatre, EUA/México, apresenta Caracol Corazón de la Tierra – Flor de la Esperanza/Caracol Heart of the Earth – Flower of Hope. Em seguida, debate com Tamara Underiner, dos Estados Unidos.





15 de março – A premiada atriz e diretora de teatro, a mexicana Jesusa Rodriguez, apresentará com Liliana Felipe, da Argentina, a performance Cabaret PreHispánico: El Ombligo de las Diosas, às 21 horas, no Teatro Francisco Nunes.



16 de março – O Grupo Galpão apresentará o espetáculo Um Molière Imaginário, no Grande Teatro do Palácio das Artes, às 21 horas.

17 de março – Uma das maiores intérpretes peruanas, Grammy Latino na categoria world music, em 2002, Susana Baca, fará única apresentação no Grande Teatro do Palácio das Artes, às 21 horas. Após o concerto, o compositor Fernando Brant conduzirá debate sobre performance.
18 de março – A partir de 15h45 até às 19 horas, ocorrerão diversas performances ao ar livre, na Praça da Estação, com a presença de artistas do Peru, México, Estados Unidos, Canadá e Brasil. Às 21 horas, o Grupo de Teatro de Bonecos Giramundo apresentará Cobra Norato, no Teatro Francisco Nunes.

Curso de extensão UERJ- O ENSINO DA ARTE CONTEMPORÂNEA: FAZENDO DO DESAFIO UM ALIADO

O Pólo Arte na Escola/UFRJ e a Escola de Belas Artes oferecem o curso de


Extensão “O ENSINO DA ARTE CONTEMPORÂNEA: FAZENDO DO DESAFIO UM ALIADO”. O

curso será ministrado pela Profª Greice Cohn, Coordenadora Pedagógica do

Pólo e Professora de Artes Visuais do Colégio Pedro II.

O curso terá início no dia 17 de março de 2010 e se realizará às quartas-

feiras, ao longo de oito aulas, no horário de 14:00 às 17:00h, perfazendo

uma carga horária de 24 horas.

Have you ever kept a secret from everyone except yourself? Have you ever kept a diary, confiding your secrets to paper? Imagine if your diaries were published, their pages torn from the binding, tacked to the wall like an open wound, for all the world to see. Your darkest secrets, your deepest fears… your greatest joys, your most visionary dreams, your most extraordinary revelations. And yet, for many visual artists, the canvas acts as the diary, the personal vessel that, when marked, suddenly releases something from within that could not otherwise be expressed out loud or written in a book. Art Diaries is a provocative new series that asks artists to look within themselves and visually “write” what is usually unspoken, to communicate those suppressed thoughts without actually speaking.
Art Diaries explores what happens when something that is usually kept private is shared, becoming a process of universal visual communication from artist to artist and from artist to viewer. Why do we keep diaries? If diary writing is a private act, how do diary writers relate to one another once their thoughts are exposed? What becomes of the relationship between the private and the public once this exposure takes place? Art Diaries is communication at its rawest and most profound; what we write in diaries often include words that we cannot, would not, or should not say out loud. It is in this territory that the artist reigns.

INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – CZECH REPUBLIC

Deadline: 30th of April 2010

For this international sculpture symposium, sculptures will be made in National House exteriors and in the adjacent park of a town in Czech Republic. Sculpture in wood, preferably vertically compounded, a free motif. The material will be wood, oak, ash, poplar. The sculpture will be placed in suitable setting chosen by the organizing town. Accommodation, food, and material is guaranteed and funded by organizers and producers. Accommodation will be in a hotel, single room with shower and toilet, 200 meters from the workplace. Food will be ensured three times a day, 50 meters from the workplace. Each participant must have their personal tools and saw. High-lift track, pallets, jacks, saw sharpening and tools are ensured by the organization. Each participant covers their own transportation costs. Each participant will be awarded by 10 000 CZK after the sculpture is finished. Sculptors working in wood, with the knowledge of creating sculptures in the open air can participate, as well as students of the University / School of Applied Arts - Sculpture Studio (the last year) working in wood, with a reference of her/his professor. An invitation to participation in the symposium will be sent by a regular mail or e-mail to chosen participants at least 30 days before the symposium commencement. INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM - TURKEY

This International Stone Sculpture Symposium will take place in a town of Turkey between the 20th May 2010 and 20 th June 2010.

A total of 10 artists will be participating in the symposium. The material to be used is marble. 3m3 block/ blocks of marble in total, cut in accordance to the artist’s dimension specifications.

In addition, materials needed for the mounting of the sculpture and the base –if specified in the application portfolio- will be provided by the Municipality. The symposium has no particular theme. The sculptures created in the frame of the symposium will remain in the possession of the Municipality. The transportation, accommodation and food expenses of the participating artists will be paid by the Municipality. Travel expenses for all artists will be covered as follows: economy class plane tickets and transfer from the airport. The artists will buy their own plane tickets and will be reimbursed the ticket sums on place. Accommodation (only in case of sharing the same room) and food will also be paid by the Municipality for the symposium participants’ companions (limited to one person). The companions will not be reimbursed for their travel costs, nor will they be paid for their labor, if any. To each artist who has completed his work in the given time and place will be given a total of 2500 € (2500 EURO) for equipment expenses and copyright. Participants will be taken to short trips to the nearest cities such as Istanbul and Edirne.

SCULPTURE ON THE DISABLED PERSONS - SPAIN

Various Spanish Institutions desiring to promote the consideration of the disabled persons as an expression of the difference that enriches and add value to the community of the human beings, announce a public contest for the realization of a sculpture that reflects this vision.

Artists of any nationality can participate to this context. Every artist can introduce only one original project. The sculpture winning of this Contest, realized in resistant material, will be installed in a public space of a city in Spain.

The prize of this Contest consists in 10.000 Euro gross that will be paid to the artist as honorarium for the ideation of the work. The winning artist will undersign a contract of execution of the work with the promoting Entities. The expenses related to the materials, production, transport and position of the work will be paid by the organization of the Contest.

3 SCULPTURE PRIZE - SPAIN

Any artist can participate in this Prize. Every author can participate with only one, original and unpublished. The work must be introduced not signed. The prize is dedicated to the sculpture. The theme will be free, as well as the technique and the used materials. The materials will be definitive, so, please don’t introduce models neither projects. The dimensions of the works cannot overcome the 200 x 120 x 120 cm. neither the 200 Kg. of weight, neither to be inferior to 60 x 30 x 30 cm.

It is established only one prize of Euro 6.000,00 gross.

INTERNATIONAL WOOD SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – ITALY

Deadline: 15th of May 2010

A town in Italy organises the 27th International Outdoor Wood sculpture Symposium, which will take place from the 20th to the 27th August 2010. The sculptors will be placed in suggestive areas of the town centre, inside the pedestrian area.

To each sculptor will be assigned either a

a. a trunk of Weimurth pine (dimensions: height 130 cm. – diameter 40/50 cm) or

b. a panel of Weimurth pine (dimensions: 120x80x10 cm.) – The organisation will not provide holdings for the panels. The supplied wood will have to be used at its best by the artist. The artists can express their preference on the form: A for trunk, B for panel. The organisation will supply 12 trunks and 8 panels, therefore the organisation could eventually change the artist’s choice by extraction.

The organisation will provide electricity, but no tools.

The sculptors will be given free accommodation and meals (full board) .

The organisation will not pay any travelling costs to the sculptors.

One work will be chosen and kept by the Town Administration, the sculptor of this work will get the lump sum of € 1.937,00. This work will become property of the Town Administration. 2 BIENNAL EXHIBITION OF SCULPTURE – GRAN CANARIA

To this II Biennale of Sculpture, every author can introduce only one work of free theme and in definitive material. The dimensions cannot be superior to 1,8 meters neither inferior to 60 cm. The material will have to be suitable for the exhibition of the work at open air, therefore, resistant to the bad weather, like stone in its various qualities, iron or similar, or wood of good quality.

INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS OF SCULPTORS – BELGIUM

Deadline: 15 February 2010

Organized by a Museum of the stone, this event will take place from the 05 at August 31, 2010.

The organizer:

– offers a rough block of granite (no possibility of sawing) being able to go up to 1 m3 chosen on the spot in agreement with the foreman of the quarry.

– offers each day an hot meal which will be taken jointly; the small lunch and the evening meal will be with your load.

– gives to the artists the possibility of lodging near the Museum, in youth Hostel if the sculptor makes the request of it as a preliminary (arrived possible on August 4, departure on August 31).

– offers at the disposal of the sculptors showers and toilets.

– provides electricity, the water and the means of lifting necessary to the handling of the stones.

– provides a compressor at the disposal of the sculptors who will have however to bring the necessary tools, i.e., hammers, pipes and accessories…

– will subscribe an insurance civil liability/personal injuries.

The sculptors will be authorized to associate other materials, not provided by the organizer, to the granite, but the granite will have to be predominant. If a stone base is necessary, the sculptor will have to order it, with its expenses, at the Careers.

The sculptor is owner of the realized work.

The work will have to remain exhibited on place until the 1 of June 2011.

If during this year, any work is sold, the organizer will get a commission of the 10% of the selling price. If the organizer wishes to purchase a work, it will be deduced from the price of acquisition the cost of the provided materials. CONTEST FOR A PUBLIC SCULPTURE - SPAIN

The object of the present contest is the selection, according to the criterion of a local Jury, of a project for the execution of a sculpture at open air in a town Spain. A prize of Euro 6000 included IVA will be offered to the participant that gets the higher score. With the same author it will subsequently be stipulated a contract for the execution of the project to real dimensions, whose amount will be of 24.000 Euro, included IVA. The second classified will receive a prize of 1500 Euro, included IVA.

A Spanish foundation announces its IV International Prize of plastic art in which all the artists, of any nationalities or residence, younger than 35 years, can participate,.
Every artist can introduce a maximum of two original works, of free thematic and technique, in one of the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, engraving and new disciplines.
Painting: maximum format of 200 x 200 cm. Works protected by glass won’t be admitted. The possible frame won't have to overcome the 8 cms. of thickness. Sculpture. The sculptural works will have to have minimum dimensions of 15 cm. and maximum of 200 cm. Photography. The photos, in colour or in black and white, must be mounted on a rigid support without frame or with a frame of 3 cm. maximum. Minimum format of 50 cm. in any dimension and maximum of 200 cms. Engraving: Any technique of multiple reproduction is admitted. The works will be introduced on a rigid support with metacrilato or with a frame of 3 cm max.

Minimum format of 50 cm. in any side and maximum of 200 cm.

Other disciplines. Installations, mixed disciplines or any other plastic expression are admitted, excepted video or digital format.

The prize amounts to 27.000 Euro (included taxes).

The amount will be divided as it follows:

12.000 Euro of prize-acquisition.

The winning work will be added to the Collection of the organization.

15.000 Euro of budget for the acquisition of other works.

From the received works, the jury will realize a selection of fifteen works that will be exhibited during the month of June in A Coruña at the foundation’s centre and whose inauguration will coincide with the distribution of the prizes on the day 27 May of 2010. WOOD SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – LUXEMBOURG

A town of Luxembourg is organizing a Wood Sculpture symposium from 28th of June to the 3rd of July 2010. The Town is offering accommodation and base wood material to 3 artists. The sculptures will be realized on a public site. Material: tree trunk 1,50 – 2 meters , diameter +/- 80 cm is offered to the artists. All other material necessary to realize the sculpture will be brought by the artists (security clothes, wood saw ). Theme: The Earth. The invited artists will receive a unique allowance of 1500 Euro. Travel costs will be covered by the organization for a maximum of 200 Euro for every selected artist not resident in Luxemburg and 100 Euros to every resident. All work will be part of a group show at the end of the competition. All works will remain property of the town.

INTERNATIONAL PLEINAIR OF SCULPTORS – GERMANY -Deadline: 26th of February 2010

This International Pleinair of Sculptors is an event which is arranged by a town in Germany and that will take place from June 18t h, 2010 to June 28t h, 2010. The organizer provides the participants with logs which are 50 centimetres in diameter, lifting gear and means for hitting the first blow (temporarily)/ petrol-mixture 1:50 and bio-chain oil. The participants work only with their own tools – electric or petrol chain saws are

allowed. The sculptures created must be able to stand by themselves or on a base (wood, steel, stone or concrete). Two sculptures created in the course of the pleinair will be chosen by a jury and will be purchased by the organization at a price of 2 000 Euro each plus7% VAT. All the other sculptures stay in the ownership of the sculptors who created them. During

the final day of the event the sculptures can be sold according to legal regulations. The organizer gets a commission of 20% in case of a sale. Should a sale not be achieved it is

agreed to present the sculpture – free of charge – in the town for a period of one year aiming at a subsequent sale.The organization provides free food and lodging for the participating sculptors. Every participant is granted an expense allowance to the amount of 300 Euro. It is intended to hold the pleinair with six to eight sculptors.

INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL MEETING OF SCULTURE – ARGENTINA

A Municipality in Argentina, organize its “Second International meeting and Third National meeting of sculptors in the open air”, that will take place from the 17th to 24th of April 2010 included.
The materials will be provided by the organization and they will be national white marble in blocks of 1,50 x 0,60 x 0,30 metres approximately.
The organization will provide a covered box of work of approximately 3 x 3 .

The energy will be composed of a 220 v. socket. The compressed air will only be available for cleaning.
The organization covers all the sculptor expenses of accommodation and meals. The organization does not pay the air or land ticket, either for national or foreign sculptors.

CALL FOR PUBLIC ART – CHINA

A town in China is now inviting global artists to create public art. The organization is expecting public art works able to present contemporary minds, unique art opinions, and also, the quality that suit city scenery; the works will have to be able to break the boundaries between oriental and occidental, classical and contemporary, and create a surpassing city public art genre, integrating sounds, lighting and other elements and emphasizing the “interactivity” of public art. The works must be original (earlier works or newly created). There’re indoor and outdoor groups, for the selected works, 90% of which will be outdoor and 10% for indoor display. Works should focus on its relationship with city spaces, and artists can submit appropriate works according to different location.

Sculptures: feasible material for city outdoor spaces;

Sculptures integrated with installation: Works can use lighting, visual elements, or digital technology, materials that durable both indoor and outdoor exhibition. We advocate the media of works could interact with the citizen; there’s no restraint of materials, on the contrary, we encouraging the application of new materials; indoor works should pay attention to the materials and artistic expression, compared with the durability of outdoor materials. There’s no restraint on the work dimension.

Selected works will be officially permanently exhibited around the city.

Selected artists will be invited to visit the city and the organization will pay the travel expenses and the accommodation for the invited artists.

The organization will cover all the costs for the realization on place of the art works and exhibit expenses.

Every invited artist will take part in the 2010 city public art forum.

The grand opening ceremony of this exhibition will be hold on between June and July, 2010, in China.

SCULPTURE EXHIBITION – SWITZERLAND

The enchanting little park of a gallery in Switzerland is where this “Biennial sculpture symposium” is going to take place in 2011.

The first sculpture symposium met a lot of positive resonance both by press and public. The manifold and lush area of ca. 5000m2 with a streamlet, ponds, trees and spacious lawns is offering an inspiring environment to exhibit sculptures and installations. INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATION SYMPOSIUM– FINLAND

An art centre in Finland calls artists to participate to its sculpture and installation symposium. The proposal for the symposium has to be based on the idea that children will get an inviting and inspiring environment in which they safely can play and discover. The installations have to be constructed with the material available in the forest.
The event will take place from the 15 to the 31 of May 2010.

I’M/ IO SONO - exposição na Itália.

Con la mostra I’M (io sono), RossoCinabro vuole mettere in scena opere che hanno come tema: la trasformazione di elementi autobiografici in esperienza estetica.

‘Le ragioni che mi hanno spinto a dedicare questo tema all'autobiografia è il chiedermi qual è la relazione degli artisti con la vita. Ponendoci le stesse domande e avendo le stesse paure,ci sono più paralleli tra noi tutti che differenze.
Alcuni lavori autobiografici costruiscono una storia compiuta attraverso l'unione di piccole storie o esperienze; altri mostrano solo l’aspetto soggettivo dell’artista, come percepisce il mondo o come vede la vita.

Alcuni, partendo da tecniche di documentazione anche comuni, come il diario, la corrispondenza epistolare, le foto di famiglia o più semplicemente i ricordi, creano dei lavori che costituiscono vere e proprie narrazioni.

Alcune opere permettono anche di pensare al modo in cui ognuno di noi riflette su sé stesso, a come documentiamo i nostri atti, a come conserviamo, dipingiamo o rappresentiamo le cose che sono importanti nella vita.
Vivendo in un periodo molto esibizionista nella quale i confini tra il privato e il pubblico, anche nella nostra vita, sono sempre in movimento, trovo interessante osservare come voi definite questi confini’.

La mostra si svolgerà a Roma in Via Raffaele Cadorna 28 dal 8-26 marzo 2010.

La Galleria si trova su strada, in pieno centro storico, nel quartiere Ludovisi (P.za Sallustio, Via Piave, Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini). Facilmente raggiungibile con qualsiasi mezzo, che sia autobus, Metro, o treno, la stazione Termini è a due fermate di autobus).
La Galleria rimarrà aperta dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 12 alle 19 con orario continuato. La sala principale sarà illuminata, come qualsiasi negozio nel centro storico di Roma, anche di notte.
Sarà possibile partecipare con opere di pittura, fotografia, grafica, fumetto. Il tema è: l’io, l’ego, la percezione di noi stessi e del mondo che ci circonda. Saranno effettuate come sempre delle selezioni per garantire una buona coerenza espositiva.
Come abitudine consolidata sarà dato ampio risalto all'iniziativa e al nome degli artisti sui migliori siti d’arte e magazine tematici, inoltre saremo presenti sui giornali locali e su i principali siti della Città di Roma.
Se interessato a partecipare deve inviare per e-mail foto dell'opera/e che desidera esporre.
La quota è fissata in 110 euro per un'opera e 180 per due, 250 euro per tre. Non dovranno essere superate le misure di 100x100 e dovrà essere versata tramite:
Postepay n. carta 4023 6005 5574 5522 intestata a Cristina Madini. Il versamento in contanti può essere effettuato presso tutti gli Uffici Postali o presso le Ricevitorie SISAL d’Italia, entro il 26 febbraio 2010.
Gli artisti che lo desiderano potranno mettere in vendita le loro opere.
Il prezzo dell’opera dovrà essere specificato sulla scheda di partecipazione indicando un minimo/massimo. Si raccomanda agli artisti di cercare di essere in linea con i prezzi correnti del mercato dell’arte.

Osvaldo Carvalho na Sala de Leitura da LGC

A Galeria LGC Arte Contemporânea iniciando suas atividades de 2010, inaugura em março a individual Sala de Leitura com trabalhos do artista visual Osvaldo Carvalho.

Sala de Leitura é um ambiente criado especificamente para a Galeria LGC. É a reunião de trabalhos variados da produção de Osvaldo Carvalho ao longo de 10 anos de atividades, que juntos propõem uma reflexão sobre o lugar da arte em nossas vidas. São obras que integram a palavra e a imagem na sua composição final. Forma e conteúdo constituídos numa apresentação singular que instigam tanto o olhar quanto a imaginação.Nascido no Rio de Janeiro, onde tem seu atelier, Osvaldo vive em Niterói. Formado em Direito, pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, possui mestrado em Artes Plásticas pela Universidade de São Paulo.Os trabalhos de Osvaldo transitam em diversos meios os quais se apresentam de maneira objetiva na narrativa poética desse artista. É o caso do trabalho Piranhas que é o resultado de acontecimentos observados pelo autor. De uma discussão entre taxistas e meninas da Vila Mimosa, região da Praça da Bandeira no Rio (próxima ao atelier do artista), surge de uma delas a frase que vai servir a um fluxo de multiplicidade semântica expresso no conjunto constituído por mais de duas mil piranhas (prendedores de cabelo).Osvaldo realizou individuais no Castelinho do Flamengo, Rio; Centro Cultural São Paulo; Casa das Onze Janelas, Pará; Usina do Gasômetro, Porto Alegre; Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto, SP; Casa da Cultura da América Latina, Brasília. Participou também do Salão da Bahia, Salão Vitor Meirelles, Salão de Goiás, Atos Visuais – FUNARTE, Salão do Paraná, entre outros. Possui obras nos acervos da Pinacoteca de Piracicaba, Prefeitura de Santo André, SESC-Amapá, MUnA – Uberlândia e Coleção Cesar Gavíria, entre outros.

Ogni artista potrà partecipare con una o più opere, non sono accettate composizioni .

La scelta della tecnica per la realizzazione delle opere è libera come lo è anche l’espressione artistica (scultura ,pittura, fotografia ,installazione ecc), le opere dovranno avere un formato 20x20 pena l’esclusione dalla manifestazione .

Il contributo di partecipazione è fissato per 2 euro a opera 20x20, per le sole spese di segreteria le spese di trasporto sono a carico del partecipante , verrà editato un catalogo in versione virtuale e cartacea ogni artista avrà a disposizione una pagina con foto dell'opera e breve descrizione .

I lavori dovranno essere rigorosamente privi di vetro, un eventuale cornice dovrà rientrare nella misura 20x20 (rif.punto 2)

Gli artisti che intendono partecipare dovranno inviare la loro adesione all'indirizzo e-mail ventiperventi@gmail.com o tramite fax al numero 08251800147 , alla scheda di adesione e al regolameto debitamente firmati andrà allegata una foto dell'opera ad alta risoluzione 300 dpì per il catalogo entro il 20 maggio 2010.

A municipality in Italy, announces a contest among artists

for the choice and the execution of art works destined to

the "New Palace of Justice". The artist is called to propose

one or more artistic elements to be placed exclusively

outside in the space before the entrance of the building.

The element or the artistic elements can freely be realized

with any technique and material, provided that the

characteristics of stability and duration are assured in the

time. The work may not have explicit references to the

activity of the palace of Justice, but rather to reflect

the artistic contemporary thought and being of non

figurative art. The general remuneration is of Euro

361.519,83 ( all the expenses included). Any artist residing

in the European Union can participate.

III NATIONAL WATER COLOUR COMPETITION - SPAIN

A town hall in Spain announces its III water colour

competition.

All the national artists or foreigners can participate with

a maximum of two works for author, provided that they are

resident in the European union.

The theme of the work will be free and the used technique

will be the water colour.

Every participant can introduce a maximum of two works. The

works will have to be introduced, necessarily framed by a

wood bar, smooth, strong, of 4 cms. and protected by

metacrilato; protection with glass is not admitted. All the

costs of shipping and restitution of the works, to their

point of origin, will be paid by the organization. With the

selected works, an exhibition will be organized from the 1

to the 12 of September 2010 in the Exhibition Room of a

Museum, situated in the city.

Prize of 3.000 Euro gross and Diploma. The Jury will

announce its decision on July 30. The winning work will

remain ownership of the organization.

INTERNATIONAL VIDEO ART - LONDON

An international association is selecting all interesting

video/short.films to include in its next 2010 Exhibition.

The organization is proud to present the next International

Videoart Festival that will be presented in a very

experimental art space, a limousine. In the middle of April

2010 a limousine, 24 exclusive seats, will perform in the

center of London for 2 hours and passengers will be

transported by video art.

Participation open to: professional artists, architects and

designers, filmmakers, associate groups and studios. The

number of works you can participate with is unlimited. All

works must be on DVD (PAL or NTSC), no matter what the

original source medium. Max lenght 5 minutes.

WOOD SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM – LUXEMBOURG

A town of Luxembourg is organizing a Wood Sculpture

symposium from 28th of June to the 3rd of July 2010. The

Town is offering accommodation and base wood material to 3

artists. The sculptures will be realized on a public site.

Material: tree trunk 1,50 – 2 meters , diameter +/- 80 cm

is offered to the artists. All other material necessary to

realize the sculpture will be brought by the artists

(security clothes, wood saw ). Theme: The Earth. The invited

artists will receive a unique allowance of 1500 Euro. Travel

costs will be covered by the organization for a maximum of

200 Euro for every selected artist not resident in Luxemburg

and 100 Euros to every resident. All work will be part of a

group show at the end of the competition. All works will

remain property of the town.

XXVIII PAINTING PRIZE - SPAIN

This International XXVIII Painting prize is a

prize-acquisition, open to artists of whatever nationality.

The available budget for the acquisition of art works in

this contest is of a maximum of 12.020 Euro. One purchase

will obligatorily be reserved to the work of a local artist

younger than 35 year-old.

Every author can introduce a maximum of two works to the

prize. The theme, technique and other plastic

characteristics are of free choice. The introduced works

won't have to exceed in any case the 2 meters in any

dimension while the minimum dimensions is of 100 x 81 cm.;

The works will have to arrive framed by a wood bar not

exceeding the 3 cms, and duly packed. Works protected by

glass won't be admitted. A travelling exhibition will be

organized and a catalogue will be realized with the winning
